Altin (アルチン村 Altin Village) is a village in south-eastern Angara. Altin has an inn, a weapons shop, an items, shop, and a Sanctum. It also has an extensive mines system called Altin Peak. It is located close to a portion of Silk Road and is a mining village that is visited by Isaac and his group during their travels. When the group reaches Altin, they find it has been flooded by water-spewing Hydros Statue monsters. Isaac and his party have to clear out the mines and drain the water by defeating the animated Statues in order to save the village. After defeating the first statue, the party obtains the Frost Jewel (essentially meant to ensure that the party has access to Frost as a utility spell at all times even when Mia is not in a character class that allows her to use Frost naturally), allowing further progress into the depths of Altin Peak. Eventually, in the deepest part of the mines, the party faces off against the boss monster, a Hydros Statue, and obtains the Lift Gem.
Altin is a remote mining village which draws its prosperity from the extensive Altin Peak mine network.
Aside from being afflicted by the Living Statues, and thus being saved by Isaac's party, Altin has almost no bearing on the overall plot of the Golden Sun series, and basically only serves as a host city to the Altin Peak dungeon. The most significant plot-related event to occur in Altin is the discovery of the tiled room at the bottom of the mine, as it is (outside of Sol Sanctum and the Elemental Lighthouses) the first hint toward Weyard's ancient past. As the series progresses, several other such ruins will be encountered, usually as Optional Dungeons in The Lost Age (such as Madra Catacombs).
The village's Inn service is provided in the highest-elevated building to the upper left (the only building that isn't submerged when you first enter the village) with a fee of 12 coins per Adept.
