A Broad Sword is a Long Sword-class weapon available in all three games. In the first game it is bought in the towns Bilibin, Imil, Kolima, and Xian, and in the second it is bought in the towns Alhafra, Garoh, and Naribwe. Being a Long Sword-class weapon, a Broad Sword can be equipped on Isaac, Garet, Felix, and Piers. It increases the wielder's base Attack rating by 40 points. Its buy value is 1000 coins and its sell value is 750 coins.
In Golden Sun, when first shopping at Bilibin, the Broad Sword may seem to be overwhelmingly expensive and powerful a weapon compared to the other common weapons being sold, and it is certainly the strongest weapon in the shops. With a price tag of 1000, you most likely will not be able to afford it unless you sell off the Bandit's Sword artifact for 525 coins, and while the sword is very useful once you have one, be sure to retrieve the even stronger weapon artifact Elven Rapier from Bilibin Cave before considering buying and equipping this sword to make the best equipment setup. After Bilibin, the Broad Sword will likely remain in your party's inventory until by the time you complete Fuchin Falls Cave and retrieve the Arctic Blade.
In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, much of the game's focus is on completing puzzles in the dungeon-style locations that provide as rewards weapon artifacts far superior to commonly bought weapons and even weapon artifacts that can normally be bought in vendors, so it is not recommended to buy and equip this weapon because you most likely will not equip it for very long.

In Dark Dawn, by the time this sword is available, the Blow Mace (which is stronger) will already be available, outclassing this sword. In addition, the Storm Brand is acquired a bit later, which is also stronger. While it might not be bad as a placeholder for the Storm Brand, this sword is expensive, meaning it might be smarter to spend your money on something else if you are short on funds.
