The Demon Axe is an axe found in Golden Sun. It is located on the sixth floor of Crossbone Isle, and so cannot be gained until the party gains the Cloak Ball and can bypass the fourth floor. Being an axe, it can be equipped by Isaac, Felix, Garet, and Piers.
The Demon Axe increases the wielder's attack by 132. Its Unleashed power is Poison Cloud, which adds another 55 damage points, converts the damage from physical to Venus, and attempts to inflict poison on the target. It has the standard base unleashing rate of 35%. Poison Cloud appears as the axe strike creating a cloud of green-gold liquid. The Demon Axe is also cursed, meaning that if the wielder isn't also wielding the Cleric's Ring, there is a chance that he might not be able to act in a given turn, and must go to a sanctum and pay a healer to unequip it. It can be bought for 16000 coins and sold for 12000 coins.
For the time you can first get it, the Demon Axe is unbelievably powerful. Unfortunately, until the Cleric's Ring is gained, there will be the risk of losing turns to the curse's influence. By the time the Ring can be equipped, the player should also have the potentially more useful Wicked Mace (venom rather than poison, and can be equipped by Mia) and Muramasa (not as strong, but can haunt the target and is Mars-aligned, expanding the chance for Garet to use it optimally). In addition, by that time, the Gaia Blade is not far off. Still, if the cursed equipment user is meant to use attack-adjusting Psynergy such as Planet Diver, the Demon Axe is worth considering to maximize that ability (if the Gaia Blade is relegated to someone else, that is). Like most other Golden Sun weapons, the Demon Axe will be overshadowed by much of what's available in The Lost Age.
