The Drone Bee, Fighter Bee, and Warrior Bee are species of monsters randomly battled in Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. These monsters, resembling anthropomorphic (and outright humanoid) insects armed with spears, are palette-swapped variants of each other that have differing levels of power and defense and are fought in different locations in the games.

Drone BeeEdit

Drone Bee

A Drone Bee is a red-bodied variant with green wings. Statistically, this monster has 63 HP, 68 Attack, 19 Defense, 36 Agility, and 2 Luck. In terms of resistance, it has a Venus Resistance rating of 100, Mercury and Mars Resistance ratings of 48 each, and a Jupiter Resistance rating of 7, and in regards to its abilities it uses its available Jupiter-based attacks with a Jupiter power rating of 105.

The Drone Bee uses these battle commands:

  • Attack: Used 7 out of 8 times, this is this monster's standard physical attack.
  • Numbing Sting: Used 1 out of 8 times, this is a Monster Skill that shoots a purple projectile at a targeted Adept that briefly erupts in a ball of electricity, deal a Jupiter-based attack equal to its normal physical attack multiplied by 0.8 and having a chance to inflict Stun on the target.

Felling a Drone Bee yields 19 Experience Points and 28 Coins, and there is a 1/16 chance that the monster will randomly drop an Elixir. If it is felled by the attack effect of an offensive Jupiter Djinni, its rewards increase to 24 EXP and 36 Coins, and the chance to drop its item becomes 1/4. In Golden Sun it is first battled in Kolima Forest and subsequently throughout Tret Tree, and later in the wintry overworld region of Angara encompassing Imil and Mercury Lighthouse. In The Lost Age it is battled only throughout Madra Catacombs.

In Golden Sun it has much higher Agility than the other monsters in the forest portion of Kolima Forest (relatively speaking), so it probably counts as a monster to watch out for at that early point in the game, but is quickly outperformed from Tret Tree onward. This exact same thing can be said about its appearance in The Lost Age.

Fighter BeeEdit

Fighter Bee

A Fighter Bee is a light-green-bodied variant with purple wings. Statistically, this monster has 116 HP, 155 Attack, 38 Defense, 74 Agility, and 2 Luck.

The Fighter Bee uses these battle commands:

  • Attack: Used 5 out of 8 times, this is this monster's standard physical attack.
  • Ally Search: Used 2 out of 8 times, this is a Monster Skill where the battle text displays "Fighter Bee looks for allies!", and there is a chance that a new Fighter Bee individual will join the battle on the enemy side.

Felling a Fighter Bee yields 67 Experience Points and 90 Coins, and there is a 1/32 chance that the monster will randomly drop an Elixir. If it is felled by the attack effect of an offensive Jupiter Djinni, its rewards increase to 87 EXP and 117 Coins, and the chance to drop its item becomes 1/8. In Golden Sun it is first battled in Lamakan Desert, and subsequently in Vale Cave, Vault Cave, and the overworld region of Angara surrounding Kalay. In The Lost Age it is is one of the stock monsters battled all throughout the Great Eastern Sea while sailing.

In Golden Sun, while it is one of the least sturdy monsters in Lamakan Desert, it is the fastest monster by a rather wide margin. This, coupled with its ability to add new monsters to a battle to prolong it, can make it rather noticeable in battle. In The Lost Age, it, along with the Calamar, is much slower and easier than the other monsters battled all throughout the Eastern Sea. This monster's ability to add duplicates makes it easy for players to kill them again and again for more experience points, making them rather useful. The stunning ability is usually harmless. This easy way to sum up experience isn't as practical with the Warrior Bee due to the reduced chance for looking for allies and chance to commit violent suicide, a very annoying attack.

Warrior BeeEdit

Warrior Bee

A Warrior Bee is a dark-blue-bodied variant with green wings. Statistically, this monster has 164 HP, 221 Attack, 65 Defense, 102 Agility, and 5 Luck. In terms of resistance, it has a Venus Resistance rating of 100, Mercury and Mars Resistance ratings of 48 each, and a Jupiter Resistance rating of 7, and in regards to its abilities it uses its available Jupiter-based attacks with a Jupiter power rating of 105 and its available Venus-based attacks with a Venus power rating of 90.

The Warrior Bee uses these battle commands:

  • Attack: Used 5 out of 8 times, this is this monster's standard physical attack.
  • Ally Search: Used 1 out of 8 times, this is a Monster Skill where the battle text displays "Warrior Bee looks for allies!", and there is a chance that a new Warrior Bee individual will join the battle on the enemy side.
  • Mortal Blow: Used 1 out of 8 times, this is a Monster Skill where the monster leaps forward into a targeted Adept while a red projectile shoots into the target, and in the brief red explosion that occurs the monster disappears and the Adept is struck back quite a fair distance. This deals a Venus-based attack equal to the user's normal physical attack with an additional 35 damage points, and the user is removed from the battle in a way that it is not counted as "felled" (you don't get its EXP and coins).

Felling a Warrior Bee through your own battle abilities yields 65 Experience Points (incredibly less than the EXP of its earlier counterpart Fighter Bee) and 104 Coins, and there is a 1/16 chance that the monster will randomly drop an Elixir. If it is felled by the attack effect of an offensive Jupiter Djinni, its rewards increase to 84 EXP and 135 Coins, and the chance to drop its item becomes 1/4. In Golden Sun it is battled in Gondowan Cave and in the overworld region of Gondowan beyond Gondowan Passage.

Though the Warrior Bee's kamikaze maneuver can be quite damaging if it occurs, it occurs rarely, and it removes an enemy from the battle. So if counting that monster skill out of the equation, it is not quite as strong nor even as fast as the Dirty Apes in Gondowan Cave, and is outperformed by several other monsters in the overworld areas where it can be fought.
