An Iron Helm is a Helm-class headwear available in both Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. It is sold in armor vendors at Altin and Kalay in Golden Sun and at Kibombo in The Lost Age. This helm can be equipped on all warrior-style Adepts in both games, namely Isaac and Garet in the first game, together with Felix and Piers in the second. It increases the equipped Adept's base Defense rating by 20 points. Its buy value is 1600 coins and its sell value is 1200 coins.

In Golden Sun when the Iron Helm can be first bought in Altin during your activities in Altin Peak, it is an okay upgrade to any Bronze Helms Isaac and Garet might be wearing, and is better worth your money if they are equipped with anything below that. You should always balance out the price and quality of every item at the equipment vendors at each town, so if buying other equipment that increases defense better than what the Iron Helms would do for you leaves you with not enough coins to buy Iron Helms, it is not going to make the game much harder if you hold off on buying them.

In The Lost Age, the Iron Helm is only initially buyable in Kibombo after your activities in Gabomba Statue. Since Piers joined your party during that episode equipped with a weaker Bronze Helm, it is not a bad decision to upgrade his head equipment with an Iron Helm in Kibombo's armor vendor. This Iron Helm would only last until after the Aqua Hydra boss fight coming up in Piers' Lemurian Ship, when you start exploring the Great Eastern Sea where stronger equipment and artifacts can be obtained.
