A Knight's Shield is a Shield-class arm equipment available throughout the Golden Sun series.

Basic Description by Game

In all its appearances, a Knight's Shield increases the wearer's base Defense by 28 points. As a common item, it can be bought repeatedly from Vendors for 3000 coins each and sold for 2250 coins each.

In Golden Sun, Knight's Shields are sold in armor vendors at Tolbi, and can be equipped by Isaac and Garet. In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, they are sold in Apojii Islands and can be equipped by Felix and Piers. In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, they are sold in Belinsk, Port Rago, and Saha Town and can be equipped by Matthew, Tyrell, and Eoleo.

Analysis

In Golden Sun, Knight's Shields should not be bought until the player's Lucky Medals have been redeemed at Tolbi Spring. At Tolbi Spring, the player has the opportunity to acquire Earth Shields and Battle Gloves, both of which are superior to the Knight's Shield. The Earth Shield has better defense, increases Venus resistance, and a Use effect that restores HP, while the Battle Gloves have the additional ability to raise Attack. If the player does not get either of these, then they may consider buying a Knight's Shield as a replacement.

In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the Knight's Shield is available to buy as soon as the player starts exploring the Great Eastern Sea, as the player can travel to Apojii Islands immediately. A Knight's Shield is a good replacement to the Iron Shield Piers starts the game out with, though it wouldn't be worth replacing the Fujin Shield with. The Knight's Shield will serve its purpose well until the player acquires either a Luna Shield or Aerial Gloves, both forgeable items that can be made over the course of that segment of the game and have better Defense ratings as well as additional effects. If this game is being played without any data transfer or with a Password that's either Bronze or Silver-level, when Isaac's party joins Felix, Isaac and Garet will both be equipped with Knight's Shields, which are inferior to the equipment Felix's party will surely have amassed by that point, so their Knight's Shields should be replaced as soon as possible.

In Dark Dawn, a Knight's Shield is only an incremental Defensive increase over the Dragon Shield, which has the additional effect of raising Mars Resistance. Thus the player would only want a Knight's Shield to replace an Iron Shield either Adept has. Any Knight's Shields bought, however, could quickly be replaced by Glove-class Artifacts found around the Morgal region. It should be noted that Knight's Shields become unavailable after leaving the Morgal region following the Grave Eclipse. Thus, if the player wishes to give Eoleo a Knight's Shield as a placeholder to replace his weaker Leather Gloves until a more permanent replacement is found, the player should retain a Knight's Shield prior to leaving on the ship.
