Salt when used in battle

Venus djinn Salt is a Venus Djinni found in Golden Sun: The Lost Age, and is numerically the fifteenth Venus Djinni in the games' official Djinni ordering and thus the eighth numbered Venus Djinni of The Lost Age.

Rather then use cyclone on this circle of grass in Contigo, cast Scoop in the open center of the grass.

Salt is located in the town of Contigo, very near the bottom entrance. It is located just to the right of the entrance, in the exact center of a large patch of grass. Despite how easy it is to get when one knows it's there, players playing without any outside information very often miss this Djinni because the first instinct with grass groups like this is to use Cyclone to blow them away. As a matter of fact, Salt is automatically acquired by casting Scoop in the one bare spot in the center of the grass. Unlike other items specifically buried in the ground and findable with Scoop, however, the Reveal Psynergy will not even indicate Salt's presence in the ground with a telltale glowing spot.

When Set, it increases base HP by 9, base PP by 5, and base Luck by 1.

When Salt's battle effect is used, all status ailments from all current battling Adepts are removed, including the likes of haunt. Its effect is identical to that of the Golden Sun Mercury Djinni Tonic.

Ability analysisEdit

Salt, just like Tonic from the previous game, is the one effect that matches the classic "Remedy" effect present in many RPGs, healing both conditions that would disappear at the end of the battle (e.g. Stun, Delusion) and effects that have to be manually removed (e.g. Venom, Haunt). Once Isaac's party joins Felix's late in The Lost Age, bringing Tonic along with them, you have two copies of what can be a very useful effect for a designated healer and supporting Adept to use, particularly if multiple Adepts are afflicted with multiple conditions. Salt and Tonic are not worth using for the sake of removing merely one Status condition off one Adept if it it is a condition removable by someway else such as Cure Poison for the Poison and Venom conditions. Another aspect that limits these two Djinn is that situations with multiple conditions across multiple Adepts do not occur often; the only real beneficial use for them is when multiple Adepts are afflicted with Haunt and Death Curse in the fights against Doom Dragon and Dullahan.

In Dark Dawn, Salt is one of the Venus Djinn in Isaac's possession when he fights alongside Matthew and Karis. Salt is only useful should multiple party members be afflicted with Delusion or Sleep, and is not otherwise obtained by the player. However, the Mercury Djinni Dewdrop has the same effect as Salt.

Name OriginEdit

Salt is a mineral in the earth. It is perhaps best known for adding flavor to food, but it has also been historically used to disinfect wounds, explaining the Djinni's healing abilities.
