Shrine of the Sea God
From Golden Sun Universe
The Shrine of the Sea God is a tower-like dungeon with a cave-like portion in northern Indra, directly east of the town of Daila. It is first visited for a short time early in Golden Sun: The Lost Age, and later in that game as part of a larger quest. It is probable that the location's name refers to Poseidon, a demigod of the sea in Weyard, and the ancient Greek God of the Oceans.Contents |
[edit] Story
The Shrine of the Sea God is visited twice as a major location in Golden Sun: The Lost Age; the first time, two boys from Daila, Riki and Tavi, have gone missing and it is up to Felix and company to find them. They are in the Shrine of the Sea God, and after using Lash, which is obtained at the nearby Kandorean Temple, Riki and Tavi are able to return home to Daila, where they proceed to eat gratuitous amounts of food.
Later on in the game, the main portion of the dungeon is traversed in order to obtain one of the three pieces of the magical Trident of Ankohl, which will be forged together in Champa and used to make Poseidon vulnerable, and ultimately defeat him and gain access to Lemuria. The other two locations that the player must visit to complete this sub-quest are Tundaria Tower in Tundaria and the Ankohl Ruins in southeastern Angara.

[edit] Section 1
If you went here before you will have realised these two kids are in a bit of a pickle. One of them's trapped on the other side, and you wouldn't have been able to help out before. Now that you have Lash, you can get the rope across. When the two kids have finished talking, go up the ladder to the right and use Lash on the rope. They'll thank you, but don't worry - there's still something for you to get. Use the rope to get across and go through the door.
You can't do anything down the stairs, so go down and attempt to walk across to the Jupiter Djinni, Breath. You'll fall down, but climb up the ladder. The Djinni will get scared, and fly away. Follow it along the long path until you get to some stairs. Go down them, then go to the left (the footprints just lead you on a longer path) until you get to three sets of stairs leading up. Go up either the left-hand or right-hand one first, then when the Djinni flies past underneath the bridge head back down and go up the bottom set of stairs. Follow its path up until you reach an enclosure of sorts. It'll go up on the walls here, so push the torch into the gap at the top. Go up onto the walls, and it'll get trapped because of the torch. Go to it to start a battle.
Until you get your fourth party member, you won't be able to do anything else here, so use Felix's Retreat, and exit Shrine of the Sea God. Again, you can head back to Daila to use the Inn or Sanctum (Sanctums are where you can get your party members revived, cured of poison, decursed or ridden of evil spirits) and/or buy equipment. When you're done, head out of Daila and south to the fork again. Instead of going west to Kandorean Temple, go east and follow the path to Dehkan Plateau.

Shrine of the Sea God Revistied
If you don't own the Sea God's Tear, visit Daila's sanctum, after Piers joins your party.
Use Lash on the rope, and basically go all the way back to where you got Breath the Jupiter Djinni the first time. Go to the left from here, use Frost on all the puddles, then jump across and through the door. You'll have to navigate a long but easy chain of pillars here, then go through another door. In this room, go up and descend the ladder. Go down to the bridges at the bottom, and walk to the right until one cracks, dropping you. The current will carry you to a stop. Now head down and around, then up the ladder to get a Rusty Staff from the chest. Use Lash on the rope, then go back up to the top. Walk on the cracked middle bridge and let the current carry you down to the rocks. Get off and go up the ladder and through the door.
In this room, go down the ladder and move the pillar across to the hole to open a shorcut. Climb up the ladder and descend the stairs. Hop along the rocks to reach a Reveal symbol, where you should use Reveal and hop across. Use the Sea God's Tear on the statue and it'll flood the cave, carrying you up a level.
Climb the ladders up to the very top of the tower, and grab the Right Prong from the plinth. For the mean time, this is useless - you will need the Center Prong and the Left Prong. Go back down to the statue and use the Sea God's Tear again to descend. At the bottom, use Retreat to leave the Shrine.

Breath: Available in the first time you can explore the area after having acquired the Lash Psynergy. Pursuing the Djinni to the eventual dead-end, and pushing a flaming pillar up against a wall, allows you to fight it and earn it.
Right Prong: The reward at the top of the dungeon available for when the dungeon can be explored later on. Once this and the Center Prong and Left Prong key items are collected, an event in Champa will yield the Trident.
Rusty Staff: In a chest in a room with several rushing rivers. Give it to Sunshine the blacksmith in Yallam and he will reforge it into the Glower Staff.
