Spark when used in battle

Mars djinn Spark is a Mars Djinni found in Golden Sun: The Lost Age, and is numerically the ninth Mars Djinni in the games' official Djinni ordering and thus the second numbered Mars Djinni of The Lost Age.

Cast Scoop in this tiny farm to gain access to the tunnel that leads to Spark at the north end of Mikasalla.

Spark is located in the town of Mikasalla, in a separate screen north of the main town where it is visible just by walking up to the top. It is only reachable, however, with the Scoop Psynergy earned from a boss fight in Yampi Desert; go to the tiny ranch with the chicken and sheep in the lower left corner of the town, and cast Scoop in the exact center to open up a ladder, which leads to an underground cave trail. Following it leads you to the Djinni, which you can pick up without a fight.

When Set, it increases base HP by 11 and base PP by 6.

When Spark's battle effect is used, a targeted downed party member has a 60% chance to be revived with his or her HP restored to 60% of his or her maximum HP meter. It is just like the Venus Djinni Quartz from the first game, but with 10% more success rate and 10% more healing involved.

Ability analysisEdit

Spark is a slight but direct improvement over Quartz because of slightly better accuracy and HP restoration values; it is a hit-or-miss reviving spell that can be used in place of one of the reliably accurate and fully curing reviving effects, the Revive Psynergy and the Water of Life consumable item. Spark is both somewhat better in The Lost Age than Quartz was in Golden Sun because it restores more HP at a better chance and is more necessitated as well because of the lack of Water of Life items throughout The Lost Age, at least up until the Revive Psynergy starts becoming available to the party at level 19. Once you have Revive, though, this Djinni's effect should not be used anymore because Revive is fully accurate, heals to full HP, and can be used outside battle as well, all for "only" 15 PP. In addition, a superior reviving Mars Djinni named Tinder duplicates the Revive Psynergy and becomes available much later in the game. Even more, a Mercury Djinni named Balm has the exact same effect as Spark in terms of both chance of revival and HP restored, but attempts to revive all Adepts in the current battling party.

In Dark Dawn, Spark is one of the Mars Djinn loaned to Matthew and Karis at the beginning of the game. Being downed by the weak enemies in Tanglewood is not a high possibility, so Spark may not see any use. Additionally, Dark Dawn has numerous reviving Djinn such as Jolt and Tinder.

Name OriginEdit

A spark is a small piece of fire used to start larger fires.

The manual to the North American version of The Lost Age incorrectly names this Djinni "Guts".
