A War Mace (Star Mace in the Japanese version) is a Mace-class weapon constantly recurring in the series. In Golden Sun it is bought in weapon vendors in Tolbi, Lunpa, and Lalivero and in The Lost Age and the towns Izumo and Contigo in The Lost Age. Being a Mace-class weapon, a War Mace can be equipped on Isaac, Garet, and Mia in the first game, together with Felix, Sheba, and Piers in the second. It increases the wielder's base Attack rating by 84 points. Its buy value is 6200 coins and its sell value is 4650 coins.
In Golden Sun when it can be first bought in Tolbi, it should not be bought because a superior Mace artifact, a Grievous Mace, can be won freely as a prize in the nearby Tolbi Spring, as well as other strong weapon artifacts such as the Assassin Blade, a Light Blade artifact with higher base Attack power and an Unleash effect that may instantly kill an enemy.
In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, it should not be bought when it can first be bought at Izumo either because of the frequency that the traveling party finds newer and stronger weapons throughout the game. As an example, at Izumo's vendor where the War Mace can be bought commonly are several weapon artifacts that are noticeably stronger than a typical War Mace, such as a Shamshir and Ninja Blade.
If this game is being played without any data transfer or with a Password that's either Bronze or Silver-level, when Isaac's party joins Felix Mia will be equipped with a War Mace, which is of course far inferior to the equipment Felix's party will surely have amassed by that point.
- Its power is the same as the Mystery Blade's.
